Flatt & Scruggs – Down the Road

On a roll, with my 15th post this month (like the old days). Have more lined up but I’m waiting to read back from a few folks. The last post was my first bluegrass one, and was kinda feelin’ it so, found something much older (07/30/56), from a very famous group. Still don’t know much about the genre, but the little bit I’ve heard is quite enjoyable…

…audio…Flatt & Scruggs – Down the Road (July 30, 1956)

It’s easy to wander on YT, and somehow ended up at the Dueling Banjos scene of Deliverance (my first exposure to the banjo)…in the comments someone wrote, “The 1973 instrumental hit “Dueling Banjos” was adapted from a 1955 tune by Arthur Smith called “Feudin’ Banjos”. The song was used in the film Deliverance without permission and Smith was forced to sue Warner Brothers to get writing credit and collect his royalties.” …so of course had to find the original…very cool…
